Family planning assistance

Planning a family carries much responsibility along with joy and, sometimes, great disappointment for a couple.

The process of the couple gathering information and knowledge about their fertility can be wholesome for the relationship as well as very enlightening and satisfying.

Awareness of side effects of drugs and the impact of drugs on our environment makes natural family planning an attractive option for a couple in the current climate of our society.

Natural Family Planning

The NFP service of ACCORD is an educational service, offering instruction and counselling in Fertility Awareness and Natural Family Planning (NFP) for women and couples. NFP methods are evidence-based and the result of years of scientific research to refine these techniques into a safe, effective method of fertility control.

ACCORD is most grateful to Fertility UK for being such a rich resource of information for this web site.

Expert advice from trained practitioners

ACCORD personnel are people who have been specifically selected and trained to deliver this service. They fully understand male and female fertility. These practitioners use this knowledge and training to inform, educate and support individuals and couples with regard to their fertility and those who are experiencing infertility.

Our method

The method used by the Fertility Awareness Counsellors in ACCORD is called the sympto-thermal method. The sympto-thermal method combines the use of basal body temperature and cervical mucus along with other signs.

Other signs

The most important of the other signs is the position and the softness/firmness of the cervix.  It takes time to become familiar with and to recognise the signs of ovulation and the support of a properly trained Fertility Awareness Counsellor is extremely important.
